OUR TEAM

Hajer Jemai is the Founder of Thaqafa & Care, a research-informed initiative dedicated to strengthening organisations to deliver culturally and religiously sensitive care.

She holds a degree in Psychology, a Master of Public Health and is currently completing a PhD in Public Health, with research focused on culturally and religiously sensitive maternity care for marginalised women in Australia. Her work draws on public health, Islamic psychology, cultural safety frameworks, and community-engaged research to improve equity, trust, and well-being in diverse communities.

Hajer brings extensive experience in qualitative and mixed-methods research, ethics, stakeholder engagement, and research translation, working with healthcare services, community organisations, universities, and policy stakeholders. Her approach is grounded in evidence, lived experience, and deep respect for culture, faith, and identity.

Through Thaqafa & Care, Hajer focuses on capacity-building at a systems level, supporting organisations to embed culturally and religiously sensitive policies, training, research, and service models that create meaningful and sustainable change — locally and internationally.
